Paula Patton was born in Los Angeles in a middle-class family. Her childhood was filled with big dreams. Her most memorable roles include the spy action film Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol, and the thriller Precious. As a young girl she was raised in an Los Angeles middle-class household. Her mother was a movie enthusiast and encouraged her to love movies as a young person. Paula took part in school co-curricular activities, and she was especially interested in the drama. Paula loved acting with friends as well as participating in school productions. Hamilton Magnet Arts High School's Hamilton Magnet Arts High School was the setting for many school productions. She decided to become an actor. She was part of at the University of Southern Calif's summer program, and enjoyed tremendously. She won the PBS 3-month assignment to make documentaries. She started as production assistant for television documentaries, after completing her project. Then she began producing documentaries. While she was happy with her work however, she longed for being an actor. She began her journey into acting by playing Will Smith's co-star on romance comedy Hitch. Since then, she has been in numerous films as well as TV shows.
