Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946 into a very poor family with 12 kids eventually included, discovered early that she could get away from her hardships through a vivid imagination. Prior to learning how to read or write Dolly Parton had already begun to compose her own songs. In 8 years, she had her very first guitar. When she was 11 years old, she began to sing at the Knoxville Tennessee radio station. In the that same year, Gold Band Records was an independent label. In high school She made her mark local, but longed for having a bigger stage. The singer moved to Nashville following her graduation in 1964. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated show on TV at the time, was in search for a singer for his program. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She took on the role in 1967. Then, in 1974, she left Wagoner's Show because the success of her own songs such as Joshua Coats from Many Colors or Jolene was outstripping their joint releases. Parton, after the split of their collaboration with Wagoner she wrote the song"I Will Never Love You and saw it climb to No. For the first time, in 1974.
