Fawn Mckay

Fawn McKay was born 15 September 1915 in Ogden, Utah. Fawn McKay, brought up in the Mormon Church's First Family employed her creative talents and expertise in research to write an intriguing psycho-historical biography of Joseph Smith. Published in 1945, under the name No Man is a Master of My History, she used both. This title is taken from the funeral sermon of Joseph Smith, the founding father of the Church of Latter-Day Saints. He shocked his audience by telling his audience: "You don't even know my name. You have never known the depths of my soul." My past is not known to anyone. It is not possible for me to tell you. Fawn wrote the 29-year-old Fawn. From that point the three authors have stood up to the challenge. Some have deified and abused him, while others have attempted to diagnose the issue. It isn't because there's not enough evidence but rather they are wildly inconsistent. This is the task--sifting out personal testimony from third party inconsistencies and integrating Mormon-related narratives into a coherent history. It is fascinating and informative. This is the kind of task to which Fawn Brodie committed herself professionally. Her research and writings brought her fame around all over the globe: Thaddeus Stephens. The Devil Drives (1959) Scourge of the South Thomas Jefferson. Richard Nixon and An Intimate historical history (1974).
