Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends the benefits of football scholarships and volunteerism in the community. One of the first things he did is to help the Selmon relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. They raised nine children on a Eufala farm. Second football he was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. They made the All-America team in 1973. Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for one season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was the best lineman in across the country. Over the course of three seasons, Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. As an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received a scholarship for the third season in 1975. Selmon earned his diploma in education. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week throughout his college years. After graduation Lee Roy relocating to Tampa and spent the next nine years playing for the Buccaneers. 3 times he was selected All-Pro. Lee Roy began his professional career. By 1988, he became an Account Relations officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why Lee Roy was honored when the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as one of the most prominent young men in the country. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds as a college player he was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993, Roy was a part of at the University of South Florida's sports department as the associate director. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded their Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
